Wadhurst Coal was established in 1987 by Steve Buckingham, who learned the trade from his step-father, John Grinham. John was the local Wadhurst coal merchant for several decades, operating a coal yard at Wadhurst Station and later at Frant Station. Both yards eventually giving way to car parks.
John followed in the footsteps of his own father, C W Grinham and his grandfather before him, making Wadhurst Coal the fourth generation of coal merchants in this family.
We take great pride in the fact our family has supplied our local community with its solid fuel needs for more than 100 years. Even the deepest snow fall will not stop us from getting to your door!
